Mindfulness & Meditation:
Have you ever felt as though your brain were running around in a continuous loop of nothingness? Do you find it hard to concentrate on tasks as the never ending looming to-do list hangs over your head?
Coming from a decade of being in the Education System, nobody knows this feeling greater than myself! Endless tasks accumulating, as the current tasks were proving to be difficult to concentrate on because of the stress. That was, until I embedded mindfulness and meditation into my life.
The thought of slowing down and doing 'nothing' when there are so many tasks to do can be daunting. However, this is exactly what needs to happen in order for you to process and respond. When we meditate or practise mindfulness, we connect to the needs of our body. When we give our body what it needs, we allow it to run at full speed again.
During my mindfulness activities, we slow down, take time for us to deepen the connection to self, and release the stress that stops us from working at our optimal performance. We remember what it feels like to have stillness. To feel calm. The ripple effect can then be felt in every person that we interact with throughout the day, as we can make better judgement calls, we can relate to others with empathy, and we can find gratitude in small moments.
